Doxazosin 1mg Tablets are an alpha-blocker used to treat high blood pressure and to relieve the urinary symptoms of an enlarged prostate (BPH). Weak stream, hesitancy, dribbling and night-time trips. Doxazosin relaxes the smooth muscle in blood vessels and around the prostate and bladder neck, with the 1mg strength serving as the careful starting dose.

Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Take one tablet once daily, typically at bedtime when starting. The first doses can cause marked dizziness. Treatment starts at 1mg and is increased gradually by the doctor as needed. Take consistently and rise slowly from sitting or lying, especially in the first weeks.

First-dose dizziness and fainting can occur. Take the first dose at bedtime and avoid driving until you know your response. Report persistent dizziness, palpitations or ankle swelling. Tell your doctor about heart failure, liver impairment and erectile dysfunction medicines (additive blood-pressure lowering). If cataract surgery is planned, inform the eye surgeon. Alpha-blockers affect the iris during surgery. Prostate symptoms should be medically assessed before treatment to exclude other causes.
