Rhizin is an antihistamine that reduces the effects of natural chemical histamine in the body. Histamine can produce symptoms of sneezing, itching, watery eyes, and runny nose. Rhizin is used to treat cold or allergy symptoms such as sneezing, itching, watery eyes, or runny nose. Rhizin is also used to treat itching and swelling caused by chronic urticaria (hives).
The dosage is based on your medical condition, age, and response to treatment. This medication works best if it is used as the first signs of a headache occur. If you wait until the headache has worsened, the medication may not work as well. 6 months to 2 years: 2.5 mg orally once a day, 12 months and older may be increased to 2.5 mg orally twice a day. 2 to 5 years: 2.5 mg orally once a day, may be increased to 5 mg/day in 1 to 2 divided doses.
Hypersensitivity to Rhizin dihydrochloride, hydroxyzine, any piperazine derivatives or to any of the excipients of Rhizin. Patients with severe renal impairment CrCl <10 ml/min. Patients with rare hereditary problems of galactose intolerance, the Lapp lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption should not take Rhizin.
