Stednac gel is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It is used to treat pain and inflammation in osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis. This drug works by blocking the effect of cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes which make chemical prostaglandins at sites of injury or damage causing pain, swelling and inflammation.
The dosage is based on your medical condition and response to treatment. Do not apply more than 16 grams of diclofenac per day to any single joint of the lower body (such as knee, ankle, foot). Do not apply more than 8 grams of diclofenac per day to any single joint of the upper body (such as hand, wrist, elbow). No matter how many joints you are treating, do not use more than a total of 32 grams of diclofenac per day.
Stednac is contraindicated in the following situations: Patients sensitive to Aceclofenac (Stednac), Paracetamol (Stednac) or to any of the excipients of the product. Patients in whom aspirin or other Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug, precipitate attacks of bronchospasm, acute rhinitis or urticaria or patients hypersensitive to drugs. Patients with active or suspected peptic ulcer or gastrointestinal bleeding or bleeding disorders. Patients with severe heart failure, hypertension, hepatic or renal insufficiency.
