Overview

Aprovasc 150mg/5mg Tablets (28 pack) combines two blood-pressure medicines. Irbesartan and amlodipine. In one daily tablet for hypertension not adequately controlled by a single medicine. Irbesartan, an angiotensin-receptor blocker, relaxes blood vessels by blocking a hormone that narrows them, while amlodipine, a calcium-channel blocker, widens the vessels further; together they give stronger, smoother blood-pressure control. Better control lowers the long-term risk of stroke, heart attack and kidney damage. A convenient combination option for patients, taken under medical supervision.

Irbesartan 150mg and amlodipine (as besilate) 5mg per tablet.

Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor. Usually one tablet once daily, at about the same time each day, with or without food, swallowed with water. Keep taking it every day even when you feel well, as it controls but does not cure high blood pressure. Do not stop suddenly without medical advice.

May cause dizziness, ankle swelling, flushing or headache, especially when starting. Rise slowly from sitting or lying. Not for use in pregnancy. Tell your doctor at once if you are or may become pregnant. Tell your doctor about kidney or liver problems, other blood-pressure medicines, potassium supplements and diuretics; avoid large amounts of grapefruit juice.
