Overview

Arbitel 40H Tablets (30 pack) combine two blood-pressure medicines: telmisartan 40mg, an angiotensin-receptor blocker (ARB), and hydrochlorothiazide 12.5mg, a water tablet (diuretic). Telmisartan relaxes and widens the blood vessels, while hydrochlorothiazide helps the body remove excess salt and water. Together giving smoother, stronger control of high blood pressure than one medicine alone. Good blood-pressure control helps protect against stroke, heart attack and kidney damage. Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor. Usually one tablet once daily, ideally in the morning (as the water-tablet part can increase urination), with or without food, at the same time each day. Swallow it with water. Keep taking it even when you feel well, as high blood pressure often has no symptoms, and do not stop without advice. Attend your regular blood-pressure and blood-test checks.

Do not use in pregnancy. ARBs can harm the unborn baby; tell your doctor at once if you become or plan to become pregnant. May cause dizziness, especially at first or on standing. Rise slowly and keep well hydrated. The diuretic can affect body salts (potassium, sodium) and blood sugar, so blood tests are done; avoid potassium-based salt substitutes unless advised.
