Overview

Arimidex 1mg Tablets (28 pack) contain anastrozole, an aromatase inhibitor used in the treatment of hormone receptor-positive breast cancer in postmenopausal women. By blocking the aromatase enzyme, anastrozole sharply reduces the oestrogen that fuels these cancers, and is prescribed both after surgery to reduce recurrence risk and in advanced disease. Treatment is initiated and monitored by an oncologist as part of a structured cancer care plan.

Anastrozole 1mg per film-coated tablet. Contains lactose.

Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine used under specialist supervision. The usual dose is one 1mg tablet once daily, taken at the same time each day with or without food, for the duration your oncologist advises. Often several years. Do not stop or interrupt treatment without consulting your specialist. This medicine is administered under specialist medical supervision only.

For postmenopausal women only. Not for use in premenopausal women, pregnancy or breastfeeding. Common effects include hot flushes, joint pain and bone thinning. Bone density may be monitored and calcium/vitamin D advised. Report vaginal bleeding, severe joint pain or signs of allergy. Do not take oestrogen-containing medicines (HRT) during treatment.
