Overview
Betadine Mouthwash/Gargle contains povidone-iodine 1%, an antiseptic that kills germs in the mouth and throat. It is used to relieve and help treat sore throats, mouth infections and mouth ulcers, and for oral hygiene before and after dental procedures. The antiseptic action targets a broad range of bacteria, viruses and fungi in the mouth. The familiar amber rinse provides soothing antiseptic relief for an irritated or infected mouth or throat. It is for use in the mouth only. Not to be swallowed.
Povidone-iodine 1% w/v.
Directions for Use
Use undiluted or diluted as directed on the packaging. Gargle or rinse with about 10ml around the mouth and throat for around 30 seconds, then spit it out. Do not swallow. Use up to a few times a day, or as directed, and generally for no longer than the stated number of days. For best effect, avoid eating or drinking for a short time afterwards.
For use in the mouth only. Do not swallow. Avoid if you are allergic to iodine, or have a thyroid disorder, without medical advice, as iodine can be absorbed. Not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding, or for young children, without advice. Do not use continuously for long periods. It may temporarily stain the teeth and mouth (usually removable). Stop if irritation occurs. Store below 25°C, away from light. This product information is for general guidance only and does not replace professional medical advice.
