Not for type 1 diabetes or ketoacidosis. Seek urgent care for nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain or rapid breathing. Possible ketoacidosis even with near-normal readings. Genital thrush and urinary infections are more likely. Maintain hygiene. Treatment is usually paused before surgery or contrast scans. Caution in kidney impairment; limit alcohol (rare lactic acidosis risk). Caution with diuretics (dehydration).
