Overview

Eltroxin 0.1mg Tablets (100 pack) contain levothyroxine (100 micrograms), a replacement for the natural thyroid hormone thyroxine. It is used to treat an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism), restoring normal hormone levels to relieve tiredness, weight gain, cold intolerance, dry skin and slowed body functions. Taken once daily, it returns the body's metabolism to normal and is usually needed long-term. A fundamental, life-improving therapy for the many people living with an underactive thyroid, managed by regular blood tests.

Levothyroxine sodium 0.1mg (100 micrograms) per tablet.

Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor. Usually one tablet once daily on an empty stomach, ideally 30-60 minutes before breakfast, swallowed with water. Take at the same time each day. Separate it from iron, calcium, antacids and certain foods by several hours, as they reduce absorption. Do not change the dose yourself; attend regular thyroid blood tests so the dose can be fine-tuned.

Taking too much can cause palpitations, tremor, sweating, weight loss and anxiety. Report these. Tell your doctor about heart disease, diabetes or adrenal problems, and about all other medicines, as the dose may need adjusting (including in pregnancy, where requirements often rise).
