Euthyrox 50mcg contains levothyroxine sodium, a synthetic form of the thyroid hormone thyroxine (T4). It is a prescription thyroid tablet used to treat an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism), where the body does not make enough thyroid hormone. Replacing the missing hormone helps restore normal energy levels, metabolism, weight and temperature control. Euthyrox is also used to help manage goitre and to support patients after thyroid surgery. It is widely used by women and men who need lifelong thyroid hormone replacement to feel well and maintain healthy thyroid function.

Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. It is usually taken as one tablet once a day in the morning, at least 30 minutes before breakfast, swallowed whole with water. Your doctor will adjust the dose based on regular blood tests. Take it at the same time every day and do not change the dose on your own.

Tell your doctor if you have heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes or adrenal problems before starting. Dose needs may change during pregnancy. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to be. Calcium and iron supplements, antacids and some foods can reduce absorption, so separate them from your tablet by a few hours.
