Overview

Fluoxetine 20mg Capsules contain a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) antidepressant. It is used to treat depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and bulimia nervosa, and sometimes other conditions, by helping to restore the balance of serotonin in the brain to improve mood, and reduce anxiety and obsessive symptoms. Taken once daily, fluoxetine supports adults managing depression and related conditions under a doctor's care.

Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor. Fluoxetine is usually taken once daily, in the morning (as it can affect sleep), with or without food, swallowed with water. It may take 2-4 weeks or more to feel the full benefit. Keep taking it. Do not change the dose or stop suddenly without medical advice, as stopping abruptly can cause withdrawal effects; your doctor will reduce it gradually.

This is a prescription medicine. Watch for and urgently report any worsening mood, agitation, or thoughts of self-harm, especially in the first weeks or in those under 25. May cause nausea, sleep changes, reduced appetite or sexual side effects. Tell your doctor about other medicines (especially other antidepressants, triptans, tramadol or blood thinners) due to interaction risks, and never combine with an MAOI. Tell your doctor about epilepsy, liver or heart problems. Use in pregnancy/breastfeeding only if advised. Limit alcohol.
