Overview

Gaviscon Peppermint Tablets (24 pack) provide fast, soothing relief from heartburn, acid reflux and indigestion. Each chewable peppermint-flavoured tablet combines sodium alginate, which reacts with stomach acid to form a protective 'raft' that floats on the stomach contents and physically blocks acid from rising into the food pipe, with antacids (calcium carbonate and sodium bicarbonate) that neutralise excess acid. Relief starts within minutes and can last for hours. Ideal after large meals, spicy food or during pregnancy heartburn (on a doctor's advice). A handy handbag or desk-drawer essential for people managing reflux on the go.

Each tablet: sodium alginate 250mg, calcium carbonate 80mg, sodium bicarbonate 133.5mg (peppermint flavour). Contains sugars. See packaging for full excipients.

Directions for Use

Adults and children over 12 years: chew two tablets thoroughly after meals and at bedtime, as needed, up to four times a day. Follow with a sip of water if you wish. Do not exceed the stated dose. If symptoms persist beyond 7 days despite treatment, consult your doctor or pharmacist. Persistent reflux deserves proper review.

Not recommended for children under 12 unless advised by a doctor. Contains sodium and calcium. People on a salt-restricted diet, or with kidney disease, heart failure or high blood calcium, should check with a doctor or pharmacist before regular use. Seek prompt medical advice if you have difficulty swallowing, unintended weight loss, persistent vomiting or signs of bleeding. These need investigation, not antacids.
