Overview
Brilinta 90mg Tablets (56 pack) from AstraZeneca contain ticagrelor, an antiplatelet medicine that helps prevent dangerous blood clots. Ticagrelor makes the blood platelets less 'sticky', reducing the risk of a clot forming in narrowed arteries. It is prescribed. Usually together with low-dose aspirin. After a heart attack or acute coronary syndrome, and after stent procedures, to lower the risk of a further heart attack or stroke. By keeping the arteries clear of clots, Brilinta protects the heart during a high-risk period. A specialist-prescribed treatment helping heart patients reduce the risk of further cardiac events.
Active: Ticagrelor 90mg per tablet.
Directions for Use
This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor. Usually one tablet twice daily, about 12 hours apart, with or without food, swallowed with water, normally alongside the low-dose aspirin your doctor prescribes. Keep taking it every day for the full period advised. Do not stop early without medical advice, as stopping raises the risk of a clot. If you miss a dose, take the next one at the usual time rather than doubling up.
Because it thins the blood, it increases the risk of bleeding. Tell your doctor about unusual bruising, nosebleeds, blood in urine or stool, or black stools, and mention you take it before any surgery or dental work. Seek urgent care for breathlessness (a known effect that is usually harmless but should be checked) or signs of serious bleeding. Avoid other medicines that increase bleeding unless advised. Tell your doctor about liver problems, asthma/COPD or gout. Store below 30°C. This product information is for general guidance only and does not replace professional medical advice. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider before starting any new medication or supplement. Keep all medicines out of reach of children.
