Overview

Zyloric 100mg Tablets contain allopurinol, a medicine used to prevent gout and to lower high levels of uric acid in the blood. By reducing how much uric acid the body makes, it helps stop the painful crystals that cause gout attacks and can build up in the joints and kidneys. It is taken regularly to prevent future flare-ups rather than to treat a sudden attack. Zyloric is prescribed for adults managing recurrent gout or high uric acid, and is also used to prevent kidney stones and uric acid build-up in certain conditions.

Active ingredient: Allopurinol 100 mg per tablet.

Directions for Use

This medicine requires a prescription. Use only as directed by your doctor. Zyloric is usually taken once a day after food, swallowed with plenty of water; the 100mg strength is often used to start treatment, with the dose adjusted based on your uric acid levels. Drink plenty of fluids through the day. Do not start it during an acute gout attack, and if an attack happens once you are established on it, keep taking Zyloric while treating the flare separately as advised. Take it regularly for it to work.

When you first start, gout attacks can temporarily become more frequent, so your doctor may add another medicine to cover this period. Do not stop Zyloric because of this. Stop immediately and seek urgent help if you develop a skin rash, as rare but serious skin reactions can occur. Tell your doctor about kidney or liver problems and all other medicines, especially azathioprine, mercaptopurine or warfarin. Drink plenty of water. Tell your doctor if pregnant or breastfeeding.
