Zyloric 300mg Tablets contain allopurinol, a medicine used to prevent gout and to manage high levels of uric acid in the blood. Gout occurs when uric acid forms crystals in the joints, causing sudden, painful attacks; allopurinol works by lowering uric acid production, helping to prevent these attacks over time and reducing the risk of kidney stones linked to uric acid. Directions for Use

This medicine requires a prescription. Use only as directed by your doctor. Take Zyloric once a day, after food, swallowed with a glass of water. It is a preventive treatment taken every day. It does not relieve a sudden gout attack, and should be continued steadily even when you feel well. Drink plenty of fluids during the day. Do not start it during an acute attack unless your doctor advises, and do not stop or change the dose without medical advice.

When first starting, allopurinol can occasionally trigger a gout flare, so your doctor may prescribe additional cover for a while. Do not stop the medicine if this happens. Stop and seek urgent help if you develop a skin rash, as rare but serious skin reactions can occur. Tell your doctor if you have kidney or liver problems, and about other medicines, especially azathioprine, mercaptopurine or warfarin. Drink plenty of water.
