Directions for Use
This is a prescription medicine, usually taken once a week on the same day. Take it first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, swallowed whole with a full glass of plain water (not other drinks). Crucially, stay fully upright (sitting or standing) and do not eat, drink anything else or take other medicines for at least 30 minutes afterwards. This protects the food pipe and helps absorption. Your doctor may also advise calcium and vitamin D.
Follow the upright-and-empty-stomach instructions carefully. Lying down or taking it with food can cause irritation or ulcers of the food pipe; stop and seek advice for difficulty or pain on swallowing, or chest pain. Tell your doctor about dental work, as a rare jaw problem can occur. Maintain good dental hygiene. Not suitable for certain swallowing or oesophagus problems, low blood calcium, or significant kidney impairment. Use in pregnancy or breastfeeding only on advice. Store below 30°C.
