Directions for Use
This is a prescription medicine used under close specialist supervision. Take only as directed by your doctor. Usually one tablet once daily, swallowed whole with water, with or without food, at the same time each day. It works gradually over weeks, so keep taking it regularly even before you feel the benefit, and do not stop without advice. Attend all your blood-test and blood-pressure monitoring appointments, which are essential for safe treatment.
Requires regular blood tests (liver and blood counts) and blood-pressure checks. MUST NOT be used in pregnancy. Leflunomide causes serious birth defects; both women and men must use reliable contraception and discuss plans with their doctor, as it stays in the body a long time (a special washout may be needed). Report yellowing of the skin/eyes, severe diarrhoea, mouth ulcers, fever, sore throat or breathing problems. Avoid live vaccines and limit alcohol.
