Carbatol 200mg Tablets contain carbamazepine, a medicine that calms over-active electrical activity in the nerves and brain. It is used to prevent epileptic seizures, to relieve the severe facial nerve pain of trigeminal neuralgia, and to help stabilise mood in bipolar disorder. By steadying nerve signalling, carbamazepine controls seizures and dampens the pain or mood swings of these conditions. The 200mg strength is a standard dose, usually built up gradually. Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor. The dose is started low and increased gradually, taken with water, with or after food, at the same times each day. Seek urgent care for any skin rash, especially with fever, blistering or mouth sores. Rare but serious skin reactions can occur (people of some Asian ancestry may be advised a blood test first). Tell your doctor promptly about sore throat, fever, bruising, yellowing of the skin or unusual tiredness. May cause drowsiness, dizziness or double vision, especially at first. Avoid driving until stable, and avoid alcohol. It interacts with many medicines, including hormonal contraceptives (which may become less effective).
