Directions for Use

This medicine requires a prescription. Use only as directed by your doctor. Measure the dose carefully with the measuring device provided and take it regularly, usually in divided doses with or after food to reduce stomach upset. Take it at the same times each day. Do not stop suddenly or change the dose without medical advice, as this can trigger seizures. If a dose is missed, follow your doctor's or pharmacist's guidance rather than doubling up.

Important: sodium valproate can seriously harm an unborn baby and must not be used in pregnancy or by women or girls able to become pregnant unless they are on a pregnancy-prevention programme. Discuss contraception and any pregnancy plans with your doctor before use. Tell your doctor about liver problems or a family history of them. Seek urgent help for signs of liver or pancreas problems (severe tummy pain, vomiting, unusual tiredness, yellowing of the skin or eyes) or unusual bruising or bleeding. Do not stop abruptly.
