Overview
Trileptal 300mg from Novartis contains oxcarbazepine, an anti-epileptic (anticonvulsant) medicine. It is a prescription medicine used to control certain types of epileptic seizures (partial seizures, with or without spreading), either on its own or alongside other anti-epileptic medicines, in adults and children. Oxcarbazepine works by calming excessive electrical activity in the brain that causes seizures. Taken regularly, it helps reduce how often seizures happen and supports better seizure control as part of an ongoing treatment plan directed by a doctor.

Directions for Use
This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. It is usually taken twice a day, with or without food, swallowed with water; your doctor will start at a low dose and adjust it gradually. Take it at the same times each day. Do not stop taking it suddenly, as this can trigger seizures. Your doctor will reduce it gradually if needed.
Do not stop suddenly. It can cause drowsiness and dizziness. Do not drive until you know how it affects you, and avoid alcohol. Tell your doctor if you have kidney or liver problems, heart problems, or low blood sodium. It can lower blood sodium levels and, rarely, cause serious skin reactions. Seek urgent help for any rash, especially with fever or blistering. It can reduce the effect of hormonal contraceptives, so use additional protection. Use in pregnancy only under specialist advice. Store below 30°C. This product information is for general guidance only and does not replace professional medical advice. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider before starting any new medication or supplement. Keep all medicines out of reach of children.
