Nolvadex D 20mg Tablets contain tamoxifen, a hormonal (anti-oestrogen) medicine used in the treatment and prevention of breast cancer, including hormone-receptor-positive breast cancer in women and men. Tamoxifen works by blocking the effect of the hormone oestrogen on breast tissue, which can slow or stop the growth of certain breast cancers and reduce the risk of recurrence. It is an important part of long-term breast cancer care and is sometimes used in people at high risk of the disease. Nolvadex D is prescribed and supervised by a cancer specialist as part of an overall treatment plan.

Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine used under the supervision of a cancer specialist. Take it exactly as prescribed. Commonly one tablet once daily, swallowed whole with water, at about the same time each day, with or without food. Treatment is usually continued for several years, so take it consistently and do not stop or change the dose without consulting your specialist, even if you feel well. If you miss a dose, follow your doctor's advice rather than doubling up.

Tamoxifen can increase the risk of blood clots and changes to the womb lining, so report any unusual vaginal bleeding, leg pain or swelling, chest pain or breathlessness, or sudden vision changes promptly. It must not be used in pregnancy and can harm an unborn baby; use non-hormonal contraception during treatment and discuss timing of pregnancy with your specialist, and do not breastfeed. Tell your doctor about all other medicines, including hormone treatments and some antidepressants. Hot flushes and menstrual changes are common. Store below 30C.
