Actrapid FlexPen 100IU/ml (soluble human insulin) is a prescription short-acting insulin used to control blood sugar in people with diabetes. It is a fast-acting 'regular' insulin given before meals to manage the rise in blood sugar after eating, and can also be used in hospital settings. Supplied in a pre-filled, easy-to-use FlexPen injection device, it helps adults and children with diabetes manage their blood glucose as part of a treatment plan set by their doctor (pack of 5 pens, 3ml each).

Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Use exactly as directed by your doctor. Your dose and timing are individual to you. Inject under the skin (abdomen, thigh or upper arm), rotating sites, usually about 30 minutes before a meal. Dial the prescribed dose on the FlexPen and inject as trained. Never change your dose or insulin type without medical guidance, and always have a source of sugar on hand.

This is a prescription medicine. The main risk is hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar). Know the warning signs (shakiness, sweating, hunger, confusion) and treat promptly with fast-acting sugar; carry sugar at all times. Do not skip meals after injecting. Too little insulin causes high blood sugar (hyperglycaemia). Monitor your blood glucose as advised. Tell your doctor about illness, other medicines, alcohol and changes in diet or activity. Store unused pens in the fridge (2-8°C); the in-use pen can be kept at room temperature for the period stated. Do not freeze. Do not share pens.
