Overview
Apidra SoloStar (insulin glulisine 100 units/ml, 3ml pre-filled pens, 5 pack) from Sanofi is a fast-acting (mealtime) insulin used to control blood sugar in people with diabetes. Insulin glulisine starts working quickly to handle the rise in blood sugar that comes with eating, so it is taken around meals, usually alongside a longer-acting insulin or other diabetes medicines. The pre-filled SoloStar pen makes dosing simple and discreet. A trusted mealtime insulin helping people with diabetes manage their blood sugar and reduce the long-term risks of high glucose. Confirm the active on the pack.
Active: Insulin glulisine 100 units/ml (rapid-acting human insulin analogue), solution for injection.
Directions for Use
This is a prescription medicine. Use exactly the dose and timing your doctor has set for you. Insulin doses are individual. It is injected just under the skin shortly before (or soon after) a meal, using a new pen needle each time. Rotate injection sites (tummy, thighs, upper arms) to protect the skin. Check your blood sugar as advised, and never change your dose without medical guidance. Learn how to recognise and treat low blood sugar.
The main risk is low blood sugar (hypoglycaemia). Know the signs (shakiness, sweating, hunger, confusion) and always carry a fast sugar source; do not inject without eating as planned. Missing meals, extra exercise or alcohol can trigger lows. Tell your doctor about kidney or liver problems and other medicines. Do not share pens, even with a new needle. Store unused pens in the fridge (2-8°C, do not freeze); the in-use pen can be kept below 25°C for the number of days stated on the pack. This product information is for general guidance only and does not replace professional medical advice. Keep all medicines out of reach of children.
