Overview
Humulin 70/30 (100 IU/ml) is a prescription premixed insulin used to control blood sugar in people with diabetes. It is a biphasic mix of 70% intermediate-acting (isophane/NPH) insulin and 30% short-acting (regular) insulin, giving both a quicker effect around meals and longer background control. It is given by injection under the skin to help adults and children with diabetes manage their blood glucose, as part of a treatment plan set by their doctor (10ml vial).
Directions for Use
This is a prescription medicine. Use exactly as directed by your doctor. Your dose and injection times are set individually for you. Gently roll the vial to mix until evenly cloudy (do not shake vigorously). Inject under the skin (abdomen, thigh, upper arm or buttock), rotating sites, usually about 30 minutes before a meal, or as advised. Never change your dose or insulin type without medical guidance, and always have a source of sugar on hand.
This is a prescription medicine. The main risk is hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar). Know the warning signs (shakiness, sweating, hunger, confusion) and treat promptly with fast-acting sugar; carry sugar at all times. Do not skip meals after injecting. Too little insulin causes high blood sugar (hyperglycaemia). Monitor your blood glucose as advised. Tell your doctor about illness, other medicines, alcohol, and any change in activity or diet. Store unopened vials in the fridge (2-8°C); the in-use vial may be kept at room temperature for the period stated. Do not freeze. This product information is for general guidance only and does not replace professional medical advice. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider before starting any new medication or supplement. Keep all medicines out of reach of children.
