NovoRapid FlexPen 100iu/ml (3ml, 5 pens) from Novo Nordisk contains insulin aspart, a fast-acting (mealtime) insulin in a convenient pre-filled disposable pen. It begins working within 10-20 minutes, so it is taken just before eating to control the rise in blood sugar that follows a meal. Used in type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Usually alongside a longer-acting background insulin. It gives flexible, precise mealtime dosing with an easy dial-a-dose pen. Helping many people with diabetes keep their post-meal blood sugars in target and protect against long-term complications.

Active: Insulin aspart 100 units/ml (3ml = 300 units per pen). Rapid-acting human insulin analogue.

Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Use only as directed by your doctor or diabetes nurse. Inject just before (or soon after) a meal, into the fatty tissue under the skin of the abdomen, thigh or upper arm, rotating the injection site each time. Dial your prescribed dose, inject, and count to 6 before removing the needle. Use a new needle each time. Follow your blood-sugar monitoring plan and learn how to adjust around meals, exercise and illness as your team advises.

The main risk is low blood sugar (hypoglycaemia). Know the warning signs (shaking, sweating, hunger, confusion) and always carry fast sugar; risk rises with missed meals, extra activity or alcohol. Never share a pen, even with a new needle. Do not freeze; do not use if the solution is cloudy. Tell your doctor about kidney or liver problems and other medicines. Store unused pens in the fridge (2-8°C); the pen in use can be kept below 30°C for up to 4 weeks.
