Overview

Amaryl M 2/500mg Tablets (30 pack) from Sanofi combine two diabetes medicines. Glimepiride 2mg and metformin 500mg. In one tablet for type 2 diabetes. Glimepiride helps the pancreas release more insulin, while metformin reduces the amount of sugar made by the liver and helps the body use insulin better. Used together they give stronger blood-sugar control than either alone, helping protect against the long-term complications of diabetes. A convenient, doctor-prescribed combination for people whose type 2 diabetes needs more than one medicine.

Actives: Glimepiride 2mg and Metformin hydrochloride 500mg per tablet.

Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor. Usually once or twice daily with or immediately after meals, swallowed whole with water. Taking it with food lowers the risk of stomach upset and of blood sugar dropping too low. Do not skip meals while taking it. Keep to your diet, exercise and blood-sugar monitoring plan, and attend regular reviews.

Because it contains glimepiride, it can cause low blood sugar (hypoglycaemia). Learn the signs (shakiness, sweating, hunger, confusion) and carry a sugary snack; missing meals, alcohol or extra exercise raises the risk. Stop and seek urgent care for vomiting, rapid breathing or severe weakness (rare lactic acidosis from metformin). Tell your doctor about kidney or liver problems, and pause around surgery or scans using contrast dye. Avoid alcohol. Use in pregnancy or breastfeeding only on specialist advice. Store below 30°C.
