Overview
Coempaken 12.5/500mg Tablets (28 pack) combine two type 2 diabetes medicines. Empagliflozin 12.5mg, an SGLT2 inhibitor, and metformin 500mg. In one tablet. Empagliflozin lowers blood sugar by helping the kidneys remove excess glucose in the urine and also supports the heart and kidneys, while metformin reduces the sugar made by the liver and improves the body's response to insulin. Together they give broader blood-sugar control with added heart and kidney benefits. A modern, doctor-prescribed combination for people whose type 2 diabetes needs more than one medicine. Confirm strengths on the pack.
Actives: Empagliflozin 12.5mg and Metformin hydrochloride 500mg per tablet. (Confirm strengths on packaging.)
Directions for Use
This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor. Usually with meals, swallowed whole with water, to lower the chance of stomach upset. Drink enough fluids during the day, as empagliflozin increases urination. Keep to your diet, exercise and blood-sugar monitoring plan, and attend regular reviews. Do not change the dose without advice.
Empagliflozin can cause genital or urinary infections (drink fluids and maintain hygiene) and, rarely, a serious condition called diabetic ketoacidosis. Seek urgent care for nausea, vomiting, deep breathing or marked tiredness even if blood sugar seems normal. Metformin requires caution with kidney problems and should be paused around surgery or scans using contrast dye. Stop and seek care for severe weakness or rapid breathing (rare lactic acidosis). Avoid excess alcohol. Use in pregnancy or breastfeeding only on specialist advice. Store below 30°C.
