Overview
Trajenta 5mg Tablets (30 pack) from Boehringer Ingelheim contain linagliptin, an oral medicine for type 2 diabetes from the DPP-4 inhibitor (gliptin) family. Linagliptin helps the body release more of its own insulin after meals and reduces the hormones that push blood sugar up, lowering glucose levels with a low risk of causing low blood sugar on its own. A useful feature is that it generally does not need a dose change in kidney problems. Used alongside diet and exercise, it helps people with type 2 diabetes keep their blood sugar under control. Confirm the active on the pack.
Active: Linagliptin 5mg per tablet.
Directions for Use
This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor. Usually one 5mg tablet once daily, swallowed whole with water, with or without food, at the same time each day. Keep taking it regularly alongside your diet and exercise plan even when you feel well, and do not stop without advice. Attend your blood-sugar reviews so your treatment can be adjusted as needed.
The risk of low blood sugar rises if combined with insulin or sulfonylureas. Know the signs (shakiness, sweating, confusion) and how to treat them. Tell your doctor about a history of pancreatitis and report severe, persistent stomach pain (rare risk of pancreatitis). Stop and seek advice for any severe skin blistering or signs of an allergic reaction. Use in pregnancy or breastfeeding only on medical advice. Store below 30°C. This product information is for general guidance only and does not replace professional medical advice. Keep all medicines out of reach of children.
