Overview
Acular Eye Drops 5ml contain ketorolac trometamol 0.5%, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) for the eye, prescribed to relieve ocular inflammation and pain without using a steroid. Eye specialists use Acular for itching from seasonal allergic conjunctivitis and to manage inflammation and discomfort after cataract and other eye surgery. By blocking prostaglandin production in eye tissues, it reduces pain, redness and swelling while avoiding steroid-related pressure rises. A valuable anti-inflammatory option from Allergan used under ophthalmologist supervision .
Ketorolac trometamol 0.5% w/v ophthalmic solution. Contains benzalkonium chloride as preservative.
Directions for Use
This is a prescription medicine. Use only as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Typical dosing is one drop in the affected eye three to four times daily, for the duration your specialist advises (often 1-2 weeks post-operatively). Wash hands before use, avoid touching the dropper tip to the eye, and space other eye drops by at least 5 minutes. Do not exceed the prescribed course.
Do not use if allergic to ketorolac, aspirin or other NSAIDs. Cross-reactions can occur. Use cautiously with bleeding tendencies, corneal problems, dry eye or diabetes; prolonged NSAID drop use can rarely cause corneal damage. Report eye pain or vision change immediately. Remove soft contact lenses before instilling. Transient stinging is common. Use in pregnancy (especially late) only on medical advice. Store below 25°C; discard 28 days after opening.
