Overview

Pred Forte Eye Drops 5ml contain prednisolone acetate 1%, a potent corticosteroid for the eye, prescribed to settle significant inflammation of the eye's surface and front chamber. Ophthalmologists use it after eye surgery and for inflammatory conditions such as uveitis, iritis, severe allergic eye disease and corneal inflammation. Rapidly calming redness, pain, light sensitivity and swelling. From Allergan, Pred Forte is a gold-standard anti-inflammatory eye drop, used under close medical supervision because steroid eye drops require monitoring of eye pressure and infection risk.

Prednisolone acetate 1% w/v ophthalmic suspension. Contains benzalkonium chloride as preservative.

Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Use only as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Shake the bottle well before each use. Wash hands, tilt the head back, pull down the lower lid and instil the prescribed number of drops. Commonly one to two drops two to four times daily, tapered gradually. Do not touch the dropper tip to the eye. Do not stop abruptly; follow your doctor's tapering plan. Discard 28 days after opening.

Never use steroid eye drops for an undiagnosed red eye. They can severely worsen viral (herpes), fungal and bacterial infections. Prolonged use can raise eye pressure (glaucoma risk) and promote cataract. Attend all monitoring appointments. Do not wear contact lenses during treatment unless your doctor approves. Report eye pain, worsening vision or discharge promptly. Use in pregnancy and breastfeeding only on medical advice. Store below 25°C upright.
