Overview
Lumigan 0.01% Eye Drops (3ml) from Allergan contain bimatoprost, a medicine that lowers raised pressure inside the eye. Bimatoprost increases the natural drainage of fluid from the eye, reducing intraocular pressure in glaucoma (open-angle) and ocular hypertension. Keeping eye pressure controlled is essential to protect the optic nerve and prevent the gradual, irreversible loss of sight that untreated glaucoma can cause. The 0.01% strength is the lower-concentration, well-tolerated formulation, used once daily. A trusted, doctor-prescribed eye drop helping people with glaucoma protect their long-term vision.
Active: Bimatoprost 0.01% (0.1mg/ml). Preservative: benzalkonium chloride.
Directions for Use
This is a prescription medicine. Use only as directed by your eye doctor. Usually one drop into the affected eye(s) once daily in the evening. Do not use more often, as this can make it less effective. Wash your hands, tilt your head back, pull down the lower lid and instil the drop without touching the dropper tip to the eye, then press the inner corner of the eye for a minute. If using other eye drops too, wait about 5 minutes between them. Use it every day, even though glaucoma has no symptoms.
It can gradually darken the eyelid skin and the iris (eye colour), and lengthen, thicken or darken the eyelashes. Some changes may be permanent; wipe away any drops on the cheek to limit skin darkening. Remove contact lenses before use and wait 15 minutes before reinserting. Tell your eye doctor about other eye conditions or eye surgery. Vision may blur briefly. Wait before driving. Discard 28 days after opening; do not share. Use in pregnancy or breastfeeding only on advice. This product information is for general guidance only and does not replace professional medical advice. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider before starting any new medication or supplement. Keep all medicines out of reach of children.
