Overview

Lactulac Suspension (200ml) contains lactulose, a gentle laxative used to treat constipation and to soften the stools. It works in the bowel to draw in water, making stools softer and easier to pass, and helps restore a comfortable, regular bowel pattern. It is gentle enough for many groups, including during pregnancy and for children when advised. At higher, doctor-directed doses it is also used to treat a liver-related condition (hepatic encephalopathy). A trusted, gentle option helping people relieve constipation comfortably. Directions for Use

Take by mouth as directed on the label or by your doctor. Commonly once or twice daily, measured with the cup or spoon provided. It can be taken on its own or mixed with water or juice, and drinking plenty of fluids through the day helps it work. It usually takes 1-2 days to have an effect, so be patient and do not double the dose. For the liver condition, use only the specific higher dose your doctor prescribes.

May cause wind, bloating or stomach cramps at first, which usually settle; reduce the dose if you get diarrhoea. Not suitable if you have a bowel blockage or galactosaemia. Use with care if you are diabetic (it contains sugars) and tell your doctor. See a doctor if constipation lasts more than a few days, or if you have severe stomach pain, vomiting or no bowel movement at all. Store below 30°C; do not freeze.
