Imodium Capsules contains loperamide which is used in the treatment of diarrhoea. It should not be used in patients with dysentery (diarrhoea with blood). It works by decreasing contraction of the intestines which makes stools more solid and less frequent.
Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Imodium 2 mg Capsule may be taken with or without food
Imodium is unsafe to use during pregnancy. Its however safe to use during lactation and in kidney disease. Caution should be observed in liver disease. Consult your doctor if you have diarrhoea lasting for more than 48 hours. Don't use if you have blood in your stool or it's dark or black in colour. The drug can make you dizzy or drowsy. Avoid driving or operating any heavy machinery when taking this drug. Try to drink plenty of fluids. Having diarrhoea can make you dehydrated. Do not take loperamide if you are allergic to it. Do not take this drug if you have blood in your stools or if your stools are dark or black in colour.
