Moduretic 5/50mg Tablets (20 pack) combine two water tablets (diuretics) to treat high blood pressure and fluid retention (oedema). Hydrochlorothiazide 50mg helps the kidneys remove excess salt and water to lower blood pressure and reduce swelling, while amiloride 5mg is a potassium-sparing diuretic that limits the loss of potassium that thiazides can cause. The combination controls blood pressure and oedema while helping keep potassium balanced. A long-established option for patients with hypertension or fluid overload under medical care.

Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor. Usually one tablet once daily, taken in the morning with or after food to avoid disturbing sleep with extra night-time urination. Swallow whole with water. Take it consistently and attend reviews for blood pressure, kidney function and blood salts (especially potassium and sodium). Do not take potassium supplements or salt substitutes unless advised.

Not for use with severe kidney impairment, high blood potassium, or Addison's disease. Avoid potassium supplements and potassium-containing salt substitutes, and use caution with ACE inhibitors, ARBs and NSAIDs, which can raise potassium. Report muscle weakness, irregular heartbeat, severe dizziness, persistent vomiting or signs of dehydration. May affect blood sugar, uric acid (gout) and cholesterol.
