Overview

Isoptin SR 240mg Tablets (30 pack) contain verapamil in a sustained-release form, a calcium-channel blocker used for the heart and blood pressure. Verapamil relaxes and widens blood vessels and eases the workload of the heart, and also slows the heart rate. Making it useful for high blood pressure, angina (chest pain) and certain fast or irregular heart rhythms. The SR (slow-release) tablet gives steady control over 24 hours from a single daily dose. A long-established cardiovascular medicine for patients under medical care.

Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor. Usually one sustained-release tablet once daily with food, swallowed whole with water. Do not crush, break or chew it, as this releases the medicine too quickly. Take at the same time each day and do not stop suddenly. Attend reviews for blood pressure and heart rate.

Not for use with certain slow or abnormal heart rhythms, severe heart failure or very low blood pressure without specialist advice. Can cause constipation, ankle swelling, dizziness and a slow pulse. Do not combine with beta-blockers except under close supervision. Avoid grapefruit juice, which raises its levels; tell your doctor about all other medicines (including digoxin and statins).
