Overview

Fludrocortisone Acetate 0.1mg Tablets contain a mineralocorticoid steroid used to treat conditions where the body cannot retain enough salt and water. Notably adrenal insufficiency (Addison's disease) and certain forms of low blood pressure on standing (orthostatic hypotension). Fludrocortisone helps the body hold onto sodium and maintain blood pressure and fluid balance.

Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Dosage is determined by your prescribing doctor based on your individual needs. Do not adjust your dose without medical supervision. Take exactly as prescribed, usually once daily, with food. The dose is individual and finely balanced. Never change or stop it without medical advice, and do not miss doses, as this can be dangerous in adrenal insufficiency. During illness, injury or surgery your dose may need adjusting. Follow your specialist's sick-day rules. Carry a steroid card or medical-alert ID.

In adrenal insufficiency this is life-sustaining replacement treatment. Never stop abruptly, always carry a steroid emergency card, and seek urgent care if you cannot keep tablets down (vomiting) or during serious illness, as you may need emergency steroid treatment. Watch for swelling, rapid weight gain, raised blood pressure or low potassium (muscle weakness, cramps). These are monitored. Tell every doctor you take it.
