Overview

Proctosedyl Ointment (30g) is a soothing treatment for the pain and discomfort of haemorrhoids (piles) and other anal conditions, such as anal fissures and itching. It combines a local anaesthetic (cinchocaine) to numb pain and itching with a corticosteroid (hydrocortisone) to reduce inflammation, swelling and irritation, bringing quick, soothing relief to the sore anal area. A doctor- or pharmacist-recommended option helping people find relief from painful, itchy piles. Confirm the actives on the pack.

Directions for Use

Use as directed, usually in the morning, at night, and after each bowel motion (do not exceed the stated number of times a day), for a short course of up to about 7 days. Gently clean and dry the area first. Apply a small amount to the outside of the anus; for internal piles, attach the nozzle provided, insert gently and squeeze while withdrawing. Wash your hands before and after.

For short-term use only (usually up to 7 days). Because it contains a steroid, prolonged use can thin the delicate skin. Do not use if you have an anal/genital infection (such as herpes, thrush or a bacterial infection) unless your doctor advises. Stop and seek advice if symptoms worsen or do not improve, or if you notice bleeding. See a doctor for any rectal bleeding to find the cause. Use in pregnancy only on advice. Store below 25°C.
