Overview

Xyloproct Ointment (20g) is a soothing treatment for the pain, itching and discomfort of haemorrhoids (piles) and other anal conditions, such as anal itching and fissures. It combines a local anaesthetic (lidocaine) to numb pain and itching with a corticosteroid (hydrocortisone) to reduce inflammation and swelling, along with soothing, protective ingredients. Bringing quick relief to the sore anal area. A doctor- or pharmacist-recommended option helping people find relief from painful, itchy piles. Confirm the actives on the pack.

Actives: Lidocaine (local anaesthetic) and Hydrocortisone (corticosteroid), with soothing/protective ingredients (e.g. zinc oxide, aluminium acetate). Confirm exact strengths on the pack.

Directions for Use

Use as directed, usually applied to the affected area in the morning, at night, and after each bowel motion (do not exceed the stated number of times a day), for a short course of about a week. Gently clean and dry the area first. Apply a small amount to the outside of the anus; for internal use, attach the applicator provided, insert gently and squeeze while withdrawing. Wash your hands before and after.

For short-term use only (usually up to about a week). Because it contains a steroid, prolonged use can thin the delicate skin. Do not use if you have an anal/genital infection (such as herpes, thrush or a bacterial infection) unless your doctor advises. Stop and seek advice if symptoms worsen or do not improve, or if you notice bleeding. See a doctor for any rectal bleeding to find the cause. Use in pregnancy only on advice. Store below 25°C.
