Altacef 125mg Suspension (cefuroxime axetil) is a prescription antibiotic used to treat a range of bacterial infections in children, including those of the throat and tonsils, ears, sinuses, chest (such as bronchitis) and urinary tract, and some skin infections. It belongs to the cephalosporin group and works by killing the bacteria causing the infection. Supplied as a 50ml oral suspension, this paediatric strength is dosed by the child's weight and the type of infection, for use under a doctor's guidance .

Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Shake the bottle well before each dose and measure with the device provided. Cefuroxime axetil is best given with food, usually twice daily. Complete the full prescribed course even if your child feels better, to fully clear the infection.

This is a prescription antibiotic. Tell your doctor if your child is allergic to cefuroxime, other cephalosporins or penicillins. Complete the full course to prevent the infection returning or resistance developing. May cause diarrhoea, nausea or rash; seek urgent advice for severe or bloody diarrhoea, or signs of a serious allergic reaction (rash, swelling, difficulty breathing). Tell your doctor about kidney problems or other medicines. Refrigeration may be advised once reconstituted. Follow the pack and discard after the stated period.
