Overview

Griseofulvin 250mg is an oral antifungal tablet used to treat fungal infections of the skin, scalp, hair and nails. Including ringworm (tinea), athlete's foot and fungal nail infections. That have not cleared with creams alone. It works from the inside by stopping the fungus from growing, becoming built into new skin, hair and nail to clear the infection. Scalp ringworm (tinea capitis) is common in schoolchildren and often needs this oral treatment. Supplied as a 100-tablet pack for longer courses.

Directions for Use

This medicine requires a prescription. Use only as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Take with or just after a meal containing some fat to help absorption. Treatment often continues for several weeks to months until the infection clears. Skin around 2-4 weeks, nails much longer. Keep taking it for the full course even after symptoms improve.

Not for use in pregnancy, severe liver disease or porphyria. May cause headache, nausea or skin rash, and can increase sensitivity to sunlight. Limit sun exposure. It can reduce the effectiveness of the contraceptive pill. Use additional contraception during and for a month after treatment. Avoid alcohol. Store below 30°C.
