Overview
Salagen 5mg (pilocarpine) is a prescription medicine used to relieve a dry mouth (and sometimes dry eyes) caused by reduced saliva production, for example after radiotherapy to the head and neck, or due to Sjögren's syndrome. Pilocarpine stimulates the salivary glands to produce more saliva, helping to ease dryness, improve comfort, speech and swallowing, and protect the mouth. These tablets offer ongoing relief for adults living with persistent dry mouth.
Directions for Use
This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor. Salagen is usually taken three to four times daily with or after food, swallowed with water. Your doctor will set the exact dose and adjust it to your response. Drinking enough fluids helps. Do not change the dose or stop without medical advice.
This is a prescription medicine. Not suitable in uncontrolled asthma or COPD, certain heart conditions, or narrow-angle glaucoma. Tell your doctor about these. May cause sweating, which can lead to dehydration if you do not drink enough; it can also cause blurred vision affecting night driving. Tell your doctor about all other medicines, especially beta-blockers and anticholinergics. Use in pregnancy or breastfeeding only if advised. Store in a cool, dry place.
