Overview

Corsodyl Mouthwash Original (300ml) from GSK contains chlorhexidine, an antiseptic that helps treat and prevent gum problems. Chlorhexidine kills the bacteria in plaque that cause sore, red, swollen and bleeding gums (gingivitis), and also helps soothe mouth ulcers and supports healing after dental treatment. Used as a short course alongside brushing, it brings the bacteria causing gum inflammation under control. A trusted, effective mouthwash helping people care for inflamed, bleeding gums and maintain oral health under guidance.

Active: Chlorhexidine digluconate 0.2%. Contains alcohol and flavouring. Confirm full ingredients on the pack.

Directions for Use

Use as directed on the label or by your dentist. Usually rinse the mouth thoroughly with about 10ml (one capful) of undiluted mouthwash for around one minute, twice a day. Use it about 30 minutes apart from brushing, as toothpaste can reduce its effect. Spit out after rinsing; do not swallow. It is intended for short-term courses (often up to 30 days) rather than indefinite daily use unless advised.

Do not use continuously long-term without dental advice. Chlorhexidine can cause temporary brown staining of the teeth and tongue and affect taste, which usually fades after stopping; brushing before use and avoiding tea, coffee and red wine helps. Stop and seek advice for mouth irritation or swelling, and for any rare allergic reaction. Persistent gum problems need a dentist's assessment. Not for young children unless advised.
