Almotan 12.5mg Tablets (6 pack) contain almotriptan 12.5mg, a triptan medicine for the acute treatment of migraine attacks. Almotriptan targets the widened blood vessels and nerve pathways behind a migraine, relieving the headache along with the nausea and light/sound sensitivity. Taken when an attack strikes to stop it in its tracks, not to prevent migraines.

Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Take one tablet as soon as the migraine headache begins (not during the warning 'aura' phase), swallowed with water. If the migraine improves then returns, a second dose may be taken after at least 2 hours, but do not take a second dose for the same attack that didn't respond to the first. Do not exceed the maximum stated on the pack in 24 hours, and limit triptan use to a few days per month.

Not for use with significant heart disease, previous heart attack or stroke, uncontrolled high blood pressure, or certain types of migraine. Triptans narrow blood vessels. Tell your doctor about heart risk factors before first use. Do not combine with other triptans or ergotamine, and use caution with SSRIs/SNRIs (serotonin risk). Frequent use can cause medication-overuse headache. If you need it often, seek migraine-prevention advice. Report chest tightness, jaw or arm pain. May cause drowsiness.
