Overview

Olfen Gel is a topical anti-inflammatory gel containing diclofenac, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). Massaged directly onto the skin, it relieves localised pain, swelling and stiffness in muscles and joints, making it a trusted choice for back pain, sprains, strains, sports injuries and arthritis of the knees, hands and fingers. Because it works at the site of application, it offers targeted pain relief with less of the stomach upset linked to NSAID tablets. Olfen Gel is suitable for adults and older teenagers managing everyday muscle and joint pain at home.

Active ingredient: Diclofenac diethylammonium 1.16% w/w (equivalent to diclofenac sodium 1%). Contains excipients including isopropyl alcohol. Full ingredient list available on product packaging.

Directions for Use

For external use only. Apply Olfen Gel three to four times daily. Squeeze out a small amount (about 2-4 g, roughly a 2-4 cm length of gel) and gently massage into the skin over the painful area until absorbed. Wash your hands afterwards, unless the hands are the area being treated. Allow the gel to dry before covering with clothing. Do not use for longer than 2 weeks for muscle or joint pain unless advised by your doctor.

Do not apply to broken skin, open wounds, infected or diseased skin, or to the eyes, lips or mucous membranes. Avoid if you are allergic to diclofenac, aspirin or other NSAIDs, or if these have triggered asthma, hives or a runny nose. Not recommended during the last three months of pregnancy; check with your doctor if breastfeeding. Do not cover the treated area with an airtight dressing. Stop use if a rash develops.
