Elicasal Ointment is a prescription topical medicine combining mometasone furoate (a potent corticosteroid) with salicylic acid (a keratolytic), used to treat scaly, inflamed skin conditions such as psoriasis and thick, dry, corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses. The mometasone reduces inflammation, redness and itching, while the salicylic acid softens and removes thick, scaly skin so the steroid can penetrate and work more effectively. This 30g ointment is used by adults under a doctor's guidance for stubborn, scaly skin conditions.

Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Use only as directed by your doctor. Apply a thin layer to the affected scaly skin, usually once daily, and rub in gently. Wash your hands after applying (unless treating the hands). Use for the shortest time needed; do not apply to large areas, the face, skin folds or broken skin unless specifically advised, and do not cover with airtight dressings unless told to.

This is a prescription steroid medicine. For short-term use on affected areas only. Avoid the face, eyes, skin folds and broken skin unless directed. Do not use on large areas or for prolonged periods, especially in children, as it can thin the skin and be absorbed. Avoid the eyes. Stop and seek advice if the skin worsens or shows signs of infection. Use in pregnancy or breastfeeding only on medical advice. Store in a cool, dry place.
