Overview

Canesten Cream from Bayer contains clotrimazole 1%, an antifungal cream that treats fungal skin infections. Clotrimazole kills the fungi and yeasts responsible for conditions such as athlete's foot, ringworm, jock itch (tinea), fungal nappy rash, sweat rashes and fungal skin and genital infections (including thrush-related external itching). Applied to the affected skin, it relieves the itching, redness, flaking and soreness as it clears the infection. A trusted, widely used antifungal cream helping families treat common fungal skin infections at home.

Active: Clotrimazole 1% (10mg per gram). Cream base with excipients.

Directions for Use

Apply as directed on the label or by your doctor or pharmacist. Usually a thin layer to the affected area and a little of the surrounding skin two or three times a day, rubbed in gently. Wash and dry the area (and your hands) before and after applying. Keep using it for the full recommended time. Typically at least 2 weeks, and continuing for a week or two after the skin looks clear. To stop the infection returning. For athlete's foot, dry well between the toes.

For external use only. Avoid the eyes; if used for genital itching, use as directed and see a doctor if it is the first episode or keeps returning. See a doctor if the infection does not improve within the expected time, spreads, or is widespread. Stop and seek advice for marked redness, blistering or irritation, which could be a reaction. Generally considered suitable in pregnancy and breastfeeding, but check with your pharmacist. Store below 25°C.
