Overview

Dermovate Cream 30g from GSK contains clobetasol propionate 0.05%, a very potent topical corticosteroid reserved for severe, stubborn inflammatory skin conditions that have not responded to weaker steroids. Such as severe eczema flare-ups, psoriasis (excluding widespread plaque types), lichen planus and discoid lupus. It rapidly suppresses inflammation, redness, thickening and itching. Because it is among the strongest steroid creams available, Dermovate is for short-term, doctor-directed use on limited areas only. A powerful flare-buster in the dermatology toolkit for patients under medical care.

Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Use only as directed by your doctor. Apply a thin layer to the affected area once or twice daily, rubbing in gently, for the shortest time needed. Usually no more than 2 weeks, and not more than 50g per week. Use the fingertip-unit guide to avoid over-application. Do not cover with airtight dressings unless instructed. Wash hands after use. Once the flare settles, step down to a milder treatment as your doctor advises.

Do not use on the face, armpits, groin, broken or infected skin, acne or rosacea unless specifically directed by a doctor. Not for children under 12 unless prescribed by a specialist. Prolonged use can thin the skin, cause stretch marks, visible blood vessels and, on large areas, body-wide steroid effects. Stop gradually after prolonged use rather than abruptly. Rebound flares can occur. Tell your doctor if the condition worsens or shows signs of infection. Tell your doctor if pregnant or breastfeeding. Store below 30°C.
