Overview
Lucoderm Tablets contain a psoralen (a photosensitising medicine) used as part of PUVA photochemotherapy to treat vitiligo and sometimes psoriasis. Taken before controlled exposure to ultraviolet A (UVA) light, the medicine makes the skin more responsive to light, helping to re-pigment the white patches of vitiligo and, in psoriasis, to slow the overactive growth of skin cells. This is a specialist treatment for adults managing vitiligo or psoriasis under dermatological care.
Directions for Use
This is a prescription medicine used under specialist (dermatologist) supervision only. Take exactly as prescribed, usually a set time before your scheduled UVA light exposure or controlled sunlight, with food to reduce nausea. Never combine with light exposure except as directed, and follow your dermatologist's eye- and skin-protection instructions closely. Do not self-treat or adjust timing.
This is a prescription medicine and a potent photosensitiser. Use only under specialist supervision. After taking it, your skin and eyes become very sensitive to light; avoid extra sun exposure and wear UV-protective sunglasses and sunscreen as advised, as serious burns and eye damage can occur. Not for people with photosensitivity disorders, certain eye conditions, or a history of skin cancer. Avoid in pregnancy/breastfeeding. Tell your doctor about all medicines and liver problems. Regular skin and eye checks are needed. Store in a cool, dry place. This product information is for general guidance only and does not replace professional medical advice. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider before starting any new medication. Keep all medicines out of reach of children.
Active ingredient: a psoralen photosensitiser (e.g. trioxsalen/methoxsalen). Confirm exact psoralen and strength on packaging. Verify with supplier.
