Overview
Kombiglyze XR 2.5mg/1000mg Tablets combine saxagliptin 2.5mg, a DPP-4 inhibitor, with extended-release metformin 1000mg for type 2 diabetes. Saxagliptin boosts the body's incretin system so insulin responds when glucose rises, while the XR metformin curbs liver glucose output with smoother, gentler-on-the-stomach release. Weight-neutral, low-hypoglycaemia control in one daily tablet.
Directions for Use
This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Take once daily with the evening meal, swallowed whole. Never crush or chew extended-release tablets. The empty tablet shell may appear in the stool; this is normal. Continue diet and exercise measures and attend monitoring. Confirm the regimen on your prescription pack.
Not for type 1 diabetes or ketoacidosis. Stop and seek care for severe persistent abdominal pain radiating to the back (possible pancreatitis). Saxagliptin requires caution in heart failure. Report breathlessness or swelling. Report severe joint pain or blistering rash. Treatment pauses before surgery or contrast scans. Caution in kidney impairment; limit alcohol (rare lactic acidosis risk). Tell your doctor about all medicines.
