Overview

Levothyroxine 25mcg Tablets contain levothyroxine sodium, a synthetic form of the thyroid hormone thyroxine (T4). They are used to treat an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism), replacing the hormone the thyroid gland is not making enough of, to restore normal levels and relieve symptoms such as tiredness, weight gain, feeling cold and low mood. The 25mcg strength is often a starting or fine-tuning dose, helping adults manage hypothyroidism under a doctor's care.

Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor. Levothyroxine is usually taken once daily in the morning, on an empty stomach, at least 30-60 minutes before breakfast or other medicines, swallowed whole with water. Take it at the same time each day and continue regularly. Do not stop or change the dose without medical advice. Your doctor will adjust the dose based on blood tests.

This is a prescription medicine. The dose is individual and set by blood tests. Too much can cause palpitations, tremor, sweating or weight loss, and too little leaves symptoms uncontrolled. Tell your doctor about heart problems, diabetes or adrenal problems. Separate it from calcium, iron, antacids and some other medicines/foods (e.g. soya) by several hours, as they reduce absorption.
